Description
My client is the leading global provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, human capital and management consulting. Through its 36,000 colleagues worldwide, they readily deliver distinctive client value via innovative and effective risk management and workforce productivity solutions. They are looking to recruit a Technical Consultant for their Sheffield office. You will be required to develop, configure, enhance and test the company’s systems applications to maximise the benefits of these applications for the business user community.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Ensure that all data is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Financial Services Authority guidelines at all times.
• To liaise with clients and third parties (including software providers) where appropriate as part of the transition of new business and migration of existing schemes from one IT platform to another (primarily Profund Classic to aquila).
• Understand key requirements for client developments and fixes and ensure these are captured in a detailed specification and signed off before the solution is implemented.
• Assist in the due diligence process as required, gathering information on technical requirements for implementation, including client technologies, imaging requirements and file sizes.
• Create solutions for data/interface routines that best meet business needs and requirements using the most appropriate technologies.
• Provide detailed specifications to team members to enable them to meet business needs and requirements.
• Work with end users to ensure all User Acceptance Testing (UAT) has been performed and sign off obtained before functionality is released.
• To liaise with relevant departments (PPMG, Administration etc) to ensure a smooth delivery during all phases of a project.
• Identify and record issues throughout the development process, and work with the administration team to ensure they are resolved in a suitable manner.
• Provide relevant information to Senior Technical Consultant escalating issues and queries where appropriate via line management and also the project team as appropriate.
• To identify potential improvements to the teams working practices and to be able to implement where appropriate.
• Provide training and support to other team members as and when required.
• Support existing aquila clients via a helpdesk facility - this includes assisting in developing solutions to reverse out changes, apply bespoke bulk updates and provide complex reporting solutions.
Applicant must have experience of VB.Net - Produce scripts to manipulate data and maintain existing code libraries, SQL Server/TSQL - Cross transforms, some stored procedures - need to be proficient in using TSQL as programming language, Database - Must understand basic database and data principles. Oracle PL/SQL, Clementine, Profund, Aquila Administrator and VBA/DAO/ADO skills are desirable.
Basic salary is between £20,000 and £30,000 dependent upon experience.
